Vectron - Chain Reports

Reporting can be handled in two ways. Chain reports print out a preset report while Direct reports give the user some options as to what tills or what level to report. There are two types of reports within this. X reports and Z reports, they are functionally the same except a Z report will wipe a level back to 0. Think of this as your final report for the day/week/month.

Direct reports are quite simple to set up. To use them you just have to add a function to the screen. Function 24 = X report and Function 25 = Z report. The Code/Sub-number is the type of report you want to print. Change this to what you need, the main ones are;
1 = Financial report for your standard daily cash read
5 = PLUs for your stock reports
6 = Main Group 1 for your category breakdown if main groups are set
0 = Give the user a choice of what report they want
Add this function either under Input/Function select or directly under Assistant/Buttons

Chain reports require a bit of set up but work faster and remove any unnecessary questions.
First area to configure is Reports-journals/Chain Reports. Pick a report and edit what you need to. ECRs lets you select which tills the Chain Report will access. The other settings are not important.
Then expand the Chain Reports and open the report you are changing. Here you enter what reports you want to run and what level they run at. The numbers are the same as the Code used with Direct reports. Level refers to the different sales levels and changes from customer to customer but generally;
Level 1 = Daily Sales, Level 2 = Weekly Sales , Level 3 = Monthly Sales.
However these do not automatically wipe down meaning if a customer doesn't Z down level 2 every week then level 2 won't be a weekly report anymore. It only knows to hold sales until a Z has been run.

Next a macro needs to be configured to use the Chain Report. Under Input/Macros go to a new macro or use a previously configured one. Here you need to enter a key code before running the report to tell the till you want to run a Chain Report. The key code changes depending on what Chain Report you wish to run e.g Macro - 1 6 3 24; This will run Chain Report 1 as an X,
1 = Chain Report reference
6 = first part of Chain Report code (63)
3 = second part of code
24 = Run X report
So Macro - 3 6 3 25, runs Chain Report 3 as a Z.

You may also want to add Function 158 - Suppress error and Function 22 - Operator to the macro as these streamline the process a bit and log the user out when the report has printed however they are not required for the function to work.

Once the macro is set up you just need to add it to the screen for the user.
